FRIDAY — The Indies are always one of the highest profile events during
Canadian Music Week. This year was the 13th annual edition. In between
award presentations to various
local and national talent, the evening featured a great line-up of
"indie"
bands including Metric, Matt Mays, Cadence Weapon and Cold
Specks. It made Kool Haus one of the places to be on the festival's Friday night.
Metric were the headliners everyone was waiting for. The band won a few awards, including Best Group of the Year and Best-Selling Independent Release of the Year. With a heavy roster of hits from their 15 years in business, Metric spent well over an hour playing the best and most popular songs from Synthetica, Fantasies, and Old World Underground.
You can find our photos of the other bands who performed here. And a list of all the Indie Award nominees and winners here.
