Tonight, the 2013 Polaris Music Prize gets awarded to the best Canadian album of the year. It's all going down at a gala at the Carlu in Toronto, with the Grand Jury picking one of the ten finalists to walk away with a novelty-sized $30,000 cheque. There will also be live performances from most of the nominees, including A Tribe Called Red, Metric, Whitehorse, Young Galaxy and METZ. Shad and Kathleen Edwards are hosting, while presenters include author Joseph Boyden and musician Bry Webb.
AUX is covering the whole thing and they've put together a livestream of the event on YouTube, which we'll embed below so that you can watch it right here. It starts at 7pm (Eastern). In the meantime, AUX has also posted ten minis-docs — one about each of the finalists — which you can check out right here.
And here, to refresh your memory, are those finalists:
Godspeed You! Black Emperor – 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!
Zaki Ibrahim – Every Opposite
Metric – Synthetica
METZ – METZ
Purity Ring – Shrines
Colin Stetson – New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light
Tegan And Sara – Heartthrob
A Tribe Called Red – Nation II Nation

Full disclosure: our Editor-in-Chief is a member of the Polaris jury and, in the grand tradition of the prize, will throw a hissy fit if the winner isn't one of his picks: A Tribe Called Red or Whitehorse.
