VITALS
"We make dancy, introspective pop songs." That's how Luke Roes, frontman for the London, Ontario indie poppers, Ivory Hours, describes the band's music. "It's like a lollipop with a bit of dirt on it — you still eat it but you think about it a bit."
And while Ivory Hours might be from London, Ontario, this week they're making the drive down the 401 to the 6. They'll be in Toronto this weekend playing AB Co.'s Friday night showcase at North By Northeast. They'll be taking the stage at Sneaky Dee's at 11pm as part of a line-up that also includes Midday Swim and Elliot Maginot. You can check out all of their upcoming tour dates and get more details here. FIVE QUESTIONS
1. If you could play one venue you've never played before, what would it be?
Royal Albert Hall - always trying to follow the footsteps of John Fogerty.
2. Your all-time, all-star supergroup?
The Beatles.
3. What's your favourite song to play live? Why?
Right now it's "I Won't" — it sounds like a pina colada and people really perk up when they hear the intro.
4. John, Paul, George, or Ringo?
How fitting, haha. I've learned to love them all but Paul takes the cake. Ram is one of my favourite albums of all time.
5. Say, for some strange reason, all the music in the world is going to be destroyed, but you can save all the songs from one decade. Which decade's records would you save?
The 1960s, but the '70s are mighty close.
